Which License Is Right for You?

Class 1

Operate semi-trucks and trailers of any size. Required for most commercial driving jobs. Alberta now uses a new Learning Pathway system for training and testing.

Class 2

Drive buses and multi passenger vehicles. Also covers Class 3, 4, and 5 vehicles.

Class 3

Drive trucks with 3+ axles like dump trucks or tankers. You can tow trailers without air brakes.

Class 1 E&E

For Class 2 or 3 drivers with 2+ years experience. Allows upgrade to Class 1 without full Class 1 training, pending approval and testing.

S-Endorsement

Required to drive yellow school buses. Includes classroom and behind-the-wheel training focused on student safety.

Q-Endorsement

Mandatory for any vehicle with air brakes. Earned by completing a certified course and passing a knowledge test.

Licensing Made Simple

Getting licensed in Alberta doesn’t need to be complicated. We walk you through every step — from air brake certification and pre-trip inspections to road test readiness. Whether you’re new to commercial driving or upgrading your existing license, we’ll make sure you feel fully prepared and confident behind the wheel.

No, The program is designed to give entry level training and behind the wheel experience so that you may gain employment as a professional driver. 

Class 1 allows a person to drive any vehicle other than a motorcycle, this includes tractor/trailer, truck, buses and school buses with an addition of an S endorsement on the driver’s license.
Class 3 allows for any single vehicle with 3 or more axles, an airbrake endorsement, (Q) is required if the vehicle is equipped with airbrakes

AGP Driving School is licensed through the Government of Alberta and all driving Instructors have been fully trained to the highest standard, tested, and licensed by Alberta Transportation.
60 hours of in vehicle and in yard 1 on 1 training with a licensed driving Instructor
